With these amendments you do not need to buy the complete version of the code if you already own the 2016 California Building Code (Title 24, Part 2, Volumes 1 and 2). All you have to do is replace the out dated pages with these new pages (7-hole drilled). It’s just that easy!
These amendments adopt certain portions of the 2015 International Existing Building Code and the 2016 Edition of the California Existing Building Code. In addition, local administrative, climatic, geologic, and topographical changes were applied.
In detail, California Health and Safety Code Sections 17958.5 and 17958.7 authorize the City Council to make reasonably necessary changes or modifications to the provisions of the California Building Standards Code (Title 24, California Code of Regulations) upon finding that these changes are reasonably necessary due to local conditions.

About the 2016 California Building Code: The California Building Code is used by designers, engineers, and builders for the design, construction, renovation, addition, use, and more for buildings in the state of California. It indicates the requirements for safety, including fire and smoke protection. Additionally, information is also included on accessibility and energy efficiency. Different parts of the building such as the interior environment, the exterior walls, roof assemblies and rooftop structures are noted in the code. It is updated periodically every three years. It is based off of the International Building Code.
