The document is particularly useful for states and jurisdictions seeking to replace current provisions, and for jurisdictions that have not adopted accessibility-related codes or regulations. The document can be adopted in conjunction with adopting the 2000 International Building Code or a recent edition of any model building code provided that current adopted provisions that overlap or conflict with provisions in Code Requirements for Housing Accessibility are addressed and resolved at the time of adoption.
