Large umbrella codes such as the National Electrical Code standardize the various aspects of electrical construction. With today's
complex construction technologies, building codes must be updated constantly. For example, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association),
through its Standards Council, has issued the 2002 National Electrical Code® (NEC®). This edition
includes more than 300 significant changes to the 1999 NEC Code edition.
The new edition was developed by the National Electrical Code Committee and was recommended with amendments by NFPA's membership.
