NFPA 1221: Standard for the Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communications Systems, 2010 Edition

The 2010 edition of the NFPA 1221: Standard for the Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communications Systems provides guidance to ensure reliable emergency communications and effective emergency responsiveness by the fire service, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and other responders.

This critical Standard provides procedural and physical criteria for the installation, performance, operation, and maintenance of public emergency service communications systems and facilities. 46 pp.

This updated edition adds a new section to address radio coverage for fireground or tactical radio communications. In addition, the format and content has been revised for improved consistency with other NFPA® standards.

Additional changes to the 2010 NFPA 1221 include:

• Added requirements for protect the communications center against attack using a vehicle laden with explosives
  
• Requirements for overall performance for emergency alarm processing revised from 95% within 60 seconds to 90%.
