With June 1973 revision, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers joined this effort by co-sponsoring the Nation Standard Plumbing Code. ASPE maintained its co-sponsorship status until September 1980. Upon ASPE's withdrawal of co-sponsorship, the Code Committee composition was changed to include not only members of the contracting and engineering communities, but also members of the inspection community. Contractors, engineers and inspectors now comprise the National Standard Plumbing Code Committee.

This document contains the formal and editorial changes accepted by the Code Committee during the August 21, 2003 Public Hearing. This document shall be used in conjunction with the 2003 code.
