ASME A18.1 - 2008 Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts

In 1996, as a result of an effort to harmonize the ASME A17.1 Code and the CAN/CSA-B44 Safety Code for Elevators, the new Main Committee on Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts was established. The committee developed the first edition, which incorporates parts XX and parts XXI, as well as the applicable cross references in the 1996 standard.

ASME A18.1 - 2008 Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts covers all of the construction, design, operation, installation, testing, inspection, maintenance and repair of inclined stairway chairlifts and inclined and vertical platform lifts that are intended for transportation of eight mobility impaired person.
