AISC - ASD/LRFD Steel Construction Manual, 13th Edition

The AISC Steel Construction Manual was first published in 1927. This 13th major update replaces both the 9th Edition ASD Manual and the 3rd Edition LRFD Manual. Important revisions in this updated manual include the combination of the  previously separate Allowable Stress Design and Load and Resistance Factor Design methods. Much of the HSS Connections Manual has also been incorporated and updated in this Manual. Many other improvements have been made throughout this edition, which are detailed below.

The following major improvements have been made in this revision:

• Number of design examples has been expanded and included in a companion CD-ROM
• Updated tabular and shape information
• Design methods have been delineated using a dual-color format
• Information on HSS connections integrated throughout
• W8 members reintegrated into design tables
• Shapes with special design considerations are noted
• Workable flat dimensions of HSS members tabulated
• Design properties for Pipe now tabulated using the same wall thickness reduction factor used for HSS
• An overview of provisions and a simplified method for second-order analysis and stability requirements
• New information on corrosion protection and compatibility of dissimilar metals

Note: This AISC Manual refers to a CD Companion that was included with past printings. The Design Examples and Shapes Database that were included with the 13th Edition AISC Steel Construction Manual on the CD Companion V13.0, have been updated and are now available on the AISC web site at www.aisc.org/designexamples and www.aisc.org/shapesdatabase. The References from the Manual are available at www.aisc.org/epubs. The CD Companion is no longer included with the 5th printing of the Steel Construction Manual.
