This document is meant to be used when there is a large project, and the basis of payment to the contractor is for the cost of the work plus a fee, when the actual cost is not actually known when construction begins.

This AIA document adopts by reference, and is intended for use with, A201™–2007, General Conditions of the Contract for Construction. It is not intended for use in competitive bidding.
