2012 ICC International Codes Complete Set - Looseleaf and save!

2012 ICC International Codes Complete Set - Looseleaf includes the following:

2012 ICC International Building Code® (IBC) - Looseleaf:

The scope of this code covers all buildings except detached one and two family dwellings and townhouses not more than 3 stories in height. This comprehensive code features time-tested safety concepts, structural, and fire and life safety provisions covering means of egress, interior finish requirements, comprehensive roof provisions, seismic engineering provisions, innovative construction technology, occupancy classifications, and the latest industry standards in material design. It is founded on broad-based principles that make possible the use of new materials and new building designs.

2012 ICC International Fire Code® (IFC) - Looseleaf:

  • Complete reformatting into eight different parts that correlate to a specific area of regulation.
  • Revised definitions for health, day and ambulatory care occupancies clarify how they are classified.
  • New requirements for photovoltalic solar cells on roofs will help ensure safe fire fighting operations.
  • Mass notification fire alarm systems with text displays and captions are now required in Group A stadiums and grandstands with an occupant load of 15,000 or more.
  • The automatic sprinkler protection requirements for manufacturing, display and storage of upholstered furniture were clarified.
  • Portable fire extinguishers are now required in Group A, B, and E occupancies regardless of automatic sprinkler system protection.
  • Requirements for dry cleaning plants using Class III-A and III-B combustible liquids were relaxed.
  • New provisions in the semiconductor fabrication facility requirements address sub-atmospheric pressure gas systems.
  • Dust deflagration hazards must be reviewed, analyzed and engineering or administrative controls are now required to be documented and implemented in the IFC hazardous material provisions.
  • Code text addressing automated LP-Gas cylinder exchange cabinets was added.

2012 ICC International Performance Code™ for Buildings and Facilities (ICCPC) - Paperback:

Presents regulations based on outcome rather than prescription. It encourages new design methods by allowing a broader parameter for meeting the intent of the International Codes. Helpful User's Guide included.

2012 ICC International Fuel Gas Code® (IFGC) - Looseleaf:

Addresses the design and installation of fuel gas systems and gas fired appliances through requirements that emphasize performance.

Changes include:

  • All piping, tubing and fittings in a fuel gas system must bear the manufacturer’s identification.
  • Clarification that gypsum board requires reduced clearances to combustibles the same as any other combustible material.
  • Requirement of flashback arrestors and check valves in fuel gas systems used with oxygen

2012 ICC International Energy Conservation Code® (IECC) - Paperback:

Introduced in 1998, the IECC addresses energy efficiency on several fronts including cost savings, reduced energy usage, conservation of natural resources and the impact of energy usage on the environment. Important changes in this sixth edition include:

  • A comprehensive set of changes includes measures to improve the thermal envelope, HVAC systems and electrical systems of residential buildings up to three stories in height.
  • Commercial enhancements include required energy savings for windows, doors and skylights; thermal envelope efficiency; and increased efficiencies for installed HVAC equipment.

2012 ICC International Residential Code® (IRC) - One and Two-Family Dwellings - Looseleaf:

This comprehensive code compiles all building, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas and electrical requirements for one- and two-family dwellings in one convenient code. The regulations cover dwellings and townhouses up to three stories. Now in its fifth edition, the IRC contains many important changes including:

  • A new Seismic Design Category (SDC) map that results in smaller SDC E regions. Some previous SDC E areas will now be SDC D2.
  • A new wind map delineates areas requiring design to resist wind forces.
  • A new map identifies windborne debris regions.
  • A new table for minimum fire separation distance for dwellings equipped throughout with an approved automatic sprinkler system. The new table provides for reducing the fire separation distance for non-rated exterior walls from 5 feet to 3 feet. Also, a new section allows a sprinkled garage to take advantage of the reduced fire separation distance.
  • Doors between the garage and dwelling unit now require self-closing devices.
  • Wireless smoke alarms are now specifically permitted for satisfying the interconnection requirements in both new and existing dwelling units.
  • The provisions for roof connections to resist wind uplift forces have been updated and simplified. A new table provides prescriptive values for both low and high slope roofs in wind exposure categories B and C.
  • When a parapet is not installed, openings and penetrations of the roof are no longer permitted within 4 feet of the separating wall between townhouse dwelling units.
  • The IRC now includes prescriptive provisions for the construction of isolated masonry pier foundations supporting raised floor systems.
  • Installation of ˝-inch gypsum board or equivalent is now required on the underside of floor assemblies of cold-formed steel framing, I-joists, open web trusses and similar light-frame members.
  • The IRC Wall Bracing provisions have been completely reorganized to place each topic in a separate section and improve the flow of information.
  • New simplified wall bracing provisions offer an alternative method of bracing in low seismic regions with basic wind speeds of 90 mph and exposure category A or B.

2012 ICC International Plumbing Code® (IPC) - Looseleaf (Now includes the International Private Sewage Disposal Code®):

Provides minimum regulations for plumbing facilities in terms of both performance and prescriptive objectives, and provides for the acceptance of new and innovative products, materials, and systems.

Important changes to the IPC include:

  • Requirements for the design of a Siphonic Roof Drainage System have been added.
  • Gray water recycling requirements have moved to the body of the code in a new Chapter 13.
  • “Hydro-mechanical” and “Gravity” are the new terms for the two general types of grease interceptors.
  • Air admittance valves complying with standard ASSE 1049 are now allowed for venting chemical waste systems.
  • The length of a combination waste and vent system is now unlimited.
  • The Single Stack Vent System method has been added.
  • The code expands on suitable materials for pressurized sewage discharge applications and ratings.

The IPC also includes its companion document, 2012 International Private Sewage Disposal Code®, that contains provisions for design, installation, and inspection of private sewage disposal systems, and provides flexibility in the development of safe and sanitary systems.

2012 ICC International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) - Paperback:

Provides requirements for continued use and maintenance of plumbing, mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems in existing residential nonresidential structures.

2012 ICC International Mechanical Code® (IMC) - Looseleaf:

Establishes minimum regulations for mechanical systems using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. First introduced in 1996, the IMC was developed with broad-based principles that make possible the use of new materials, methods and design.

Changes include:

  • New and existing mechanical systems must be maintained in accordance with ASHRAE/ACCA/ANSI Standard 180.
  • Parking garage exhaust now defined as environmental air.
  • Includes specifications for grease reservoirs in commercial cooking exhaust duct systems.
  • Includes requirements for underground grease ducts.
  • Requires any combustible material in a return air plenum to be listed and labeled to verify compliance with ASTM E-84 or UL 723.
  • Air dispersion systems are now allowed.
  • New requirements for evaporative coolers.

2012 ICC International Existing Building Code® (IEBC) - Looseleaf:

Contains requirements intended to encourage the use and reuse of existing buildings. The scope covers repair, alteration, addition and change of occupancy for existing buildings and historic buildings, while achieving appropriate levels of safety without requiring full compliance with the new construction requirements contained in the other I-Codes.
