2003 Michigan Building Code

Addresses the design and installation of building systems to establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public's safety and welfare in the state of Michigan. The Michigan Building Code is coordinated with the three other Michigan-specific codes and the International Codes.

2003 Michigan Residential Code

Incorporates the 2003 edition of the International Residential Code for One-and Two-Family Dwellings and the Michigan Uniform Energy Code to establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public's safety and welfare in Michigan.

2003 Michigan Mechanical Code

Regulates the design, installation, maintenance, alteration and inspection of mechanical systems that are permanently installed and utilized to provide control of environmental conditions and related processes within buildings in Michigan. Regulates mechanical systems, system components, equipment and appliances that are specifically addressed in the code.

2003 Michigan Plumbing Code

Addresses the design and installation of plumbing systems, including sanitary and storm drainage, sanitary facilities, medical gas systems, water supplies, storm water and sewage disposal in buildings in the state. It provides the minimum standards to safeguard public health and welfare by regulating and controlling all aspects of plumbing equipment and systems.

2003 Michigan Rehabilitation Code for Existing Buildings

Based on the 2003 International Existing Building Code. Includes provisions for improving and upgrading existing buildings to conserve resources and history.

2003 ICC International Fire Code

The 2003 International Fire Code coordinated with the International Building Code, references national standards to comprehensively address fire safety in new and existing buildings.

2003 ICC International Fuel Gas Code

The 2003 International Fuel Gas Code contains complete requirements for fuel-gas piping systems, equipment and accessories. It includes combustion air requirements, sizing tables for venting Category 1 appliances and provisions that are coordinated with the National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1).

2003 ICC International Property Maintenance Code

The 2003 International Property Maintenance Code addresses maintenance requirements for the interior and exterior of structures, and space requirements for determining maximum occupancy. The IPMC also contains requirements for heating and plumbing in existing workplaces, hotels and residential occupancies, and minimum light and ventilation criteria.

ANSI/ICC A117.1-1998 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities

According to the standard, "the specifications in this standard make buildings and facilities accessible to and usable by people with such physical disabilities and the inability to walk, difficulty walking, reliance on walking aids, blindness and visual impairment, deafness and hearing impairment, in coordination, reaching and manipulation disabilities, lack of stamina, difficulty interpreting and reacting to sensory information, and extremes of physical size based generally upon adult dimensions. This standard provides specifications for elements that are used in making functional spaces accessible."

This 1998 standard has been developed to work in harmony with federal accessibility laws. Sections with expanded requirements include elevators, signs, alarms and ATM's.

In addition, the unobstructed high side reach requirement has been revised, and there are new criteria for detectable warnings for platform edges.
